Downloading the Installation Package

When you purchase Speed Handicapper® V6 you will be redirected to a download page, and will also receive an email with a link to the download page. (If you are upgrading from V5.0 the email is not automated and you will receive download information manually, so please allow up to 24 hours.)

The download link allows 3 downloads of the installation program within 6 days—but if you download and save the installation file carefully, you should need only one. (If you need an additional download later, just contact us.)

The installation package is large—about 310 megs—and can take up to 20 minutes or more to download, so choose a convenient time to use the link.

Installing Speed V6

The download is SpeedV6.zip. We suggest you download it to your Downloads library. (See the chart in theManage Race Data page.).

Once you have saved it—you have it. No need for additional downloads.

To unzip the file in Win 7, 8.1, or 10, right-click on the name and select “Extract All” It will create a folder called “SpeedV6” containing “SpeedV6.exe” and another folder—which you don’t need to touch.

Close any open programs and highlight the “SpeedV6.exe” file, right-click and select “Run As Administrator.” Then follow the on screen prompts.

Before installing Speed V6, the package may prompt you to install the Microsoft® Report Viewer, or other components such as C++ packages. Click to install any that occur, and then wait—after a minute or two the installation window will return and continue.

When the installation completes you will have a SpeedV6 Icon on the desk top and in your All Programs list.

Please restart your computer after installing the program.

If using Windows® 8+ you will find a SpeedV6 icon in the “S” list of additional programs. To add it as a Tile on the Start window, just right-click on it and select “add.”

Important to Know:

Speed V6 is a 32 bit program, and on 64 bit systems it is installed in Program Files(x86) (on 32 bit machines, just Program Files).

During installation it creates a “SpeedHandicapperV6” folder in your Documents library, and sets the Track Constant™ file (“Normal.csv”) in it.

Each time you import a race card into the program, the processed data is immediately saved to this folder. When you close a race card all of your changes are again saved here.

When you reopen a saved card, there is little processing involved so it is much faster than importing. Plus, your work is in tact.
